Glutamine is the most abundant intercellular and intracellular free amino acid in the human body. It is an example of the versatility of amino acid metabolism. In a 2015 scientific publication, the authors (Stehle, Kuhn) reported that glutamine plays a key role in the metabolism of nitrogen, protein and energy .
